ALBERT MURRAY PASSES AT 97

multi-tasking didn’t cover what ALBERT MURRAY did for jazz in particular and letters in general.  his books such as ‘Stomping The Blues” and Count Basie’s bio will remain icons of the genre and required reading for students the world over.  i got to know him only casually, but in our few conversations, some lengthy, i always felt that i was among genius and was privielged that he gave me those few moments.

journalist and scene-observer Eugene Holley, Jr. sent me the folllwing appreciaiton of the memorial at which i was unable to attend due to teaching conflict.
